Sara Tendulkar, daughter of legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, has been facing serious problems in the recent times. The 20-year old had been receiving threat calls and proposals from a stalker. Reportedly, the stalker made lewd comments during his conversation with Sara over telephone. Fed up the frequent calls of the stalker, Sara reported the incident to the police recently.
The police got in to the act and the stalker, a middle-aged man, was arrested from Mahishadal in West Bengal’s Haldia region. He was identified as Deb Kumar Maity.
As per the recent reports in Times Now, the stalker has made some bold revelations during his interrogation with the police. One of the members of the Mumbai Police, Bhimsen Gaikowar, remarked that Maity had made lewd comments to Sara Tendulkar and had even threatened to kidnap her if she rejected his proposals.
“He also made several lewd comments during his phone calls and even went to the extent of threatening to kidnap her if she rejected his proposal of marriage,” Bhimsen quoted.
The stalker is a class XII dropout. Reports suggest that he has mental disorder as well. He revealed the kind of conversations that he had over the telephone with Sara.
“Aap usko phone dena nahi chahte, (you don’t want to give her the phone). Woh sirf meri hai, main uske saath shaadi karunga, woh aur kisi ki nahi ho sakti (she is only mine; I will marry her, she cannot belong to anyone else),” he was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.
“Maine (the daughter) uska bohot baar pichhaa kiya hai, main usko nahi chhod ne wala (I have stalked her many times, I will not leave her),” the accused remarked further.
Maity is currently in police custody till January 11. The police has confiscated his cell phone. Maity is a painter by profession. He has been suffering from mental illnesses and behavioral disorders in the recent times. The police is yet to ascertain how Maity managed to get the number of Sachin Tendulkar’s residence.
“His (Maity’s) cellphone has been seized. He was produced before the Bandra metropolitan court, which has sent him to police custody till January 11,” the police commissioner quoted.
